Talking HeaDS - February 2025
Talking HeaDS - Health Data Science Seminar and Networking Series
This must be the place to hear about the latest and greatest in the expanding field of health data science. The mission of the Center for Health Data Science is to not only strengthen health data science within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (SUND) at the University of Copenhagen, but to serve as a hub for researchers using health data science.
Speaker: Ricard Argelaguet
Ricard is a computational biologist motivated by the applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence to the field of biology.
Ricard completed his PhD studies in the groups of John Marioni at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EBML) European Bioinformatics Institute and Oliver Stegle of the EMBL & the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). He then completed a postdoctoral stay in the group of Wolf Reik at the Babraham Institute.
Ricard has developed methods for single-cell and multi-omics data integration, the most popular one being Multi-Omics Factor Analysis (MOFA). He also worked on generating data resources in the context of embryonic development. Some examples include the single-cell multi-modal atlases of mouse gastrulation and early organogenesis.
Currently, Ricard is working as a Senior Scientist at Altos Labs in the Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning team led by Thore Graepel, where he works on modelling gene perturbation screenings to characterise the regulatory networks that underlie cellular rejuvenation programming.
The Talking HeaDS seminar series offers:
- Presentations on research developments across disciplines that leverage data science methodologies
- Question and answer sessions with researchers
- Networking, mingling, and refreshments to strengthen relationships across health data science
It may not be a once in a lifetime opportunity, but you won't want to miss these events!
