Talking HeaDS - Health Data Science Seminar Series and Social Networking
This must be the place to hear about the latest and greatest in the expanding field of health data science. The mission of the Center for Health Data Science is to not only strengthen health data science within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences (SUND) at the University of Copenhagen, but to serve as a hub for researchers using health data science.
This seminar will be presented by Samir Bhatt, Professor of Machine Learning and Public Health at the University of Copenhagen and Professor of Statistics at the Imperial College of London. Bhatt’s presentation is entitled “AI and Infectious Disease Modeling.”
The content of the talk will discuss recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and the constant threat of the next pandemic looming in the future. Mathematical and statistical modelling are integral in understanding infection dynamics and control. Bhatt will outline some of the major approaches used and highlight where AI can yield new breakthroughs. Drawing from Bhatt’s involvement in various health emergencies throughout his career, he will provide a personal perspective based on his own research. The goal for this lecture is for participants to gain an understanding of the main areas in infectious disease modelling, recognize some of the challenges, and share in the excitement of where the field might go.
